ucid Motors merger is this upcoming Friday; while the past two weeks have definitely been a rollercoaster ride for shareholders, there hasn't been any critical news in the past months. Much of the information has been recycled, stating facts that we already knew back in May. But after the merger, that could all change.

One crucial piece of news that many investors are looking forward to, besides customer deliveries, is the EPA range of 517 miles certification. This metric can honestly keep Lucid in the shadow of Tesla or really prove that they are a strong contender in the fight.

People who have done their due diligence know that Lucid's powertrain technology is strong, very strong actually. Their technology is used across the grid in the Formula E Series, but that doesn't really mean anything if they can't Implement that technology in their cars.

Elon Musk, the genius behind Tesla, claimed that their Tesla Model S Plaid+  would have a range of over 510 miles, but later sacking the project as a whole, stating "Plaid+ is canceled. No need, as Plaid is just so good." Many speculated that Tesla did not have the technology or enough commodities to produce the battery cells for the car.

If Lucid Motors can actually deliver customer vehicles with an EPA-certified range of over 500 miles, that would be a big middle finger to Tesla. They will definitely have bragging rights for their powertrain and battery technology and finally be able to shine in their own spotlight instead of being in the shadow of Tesla's technology.

More range, more luxury, and more exclusivity are definitely a selling point that Lucid Motors will have over Tesla for some time.

So how exactly will Lucid Motors accomplish being the first market, with a car that can do over 500 miles on a single charge? Here's how according to the CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson

"I believe that our 900-volt architecture, our race-proven battery packs, miniaturized motors and power electronics, integrated transmission systems, aerodynamics, chassis and thermal systems, software, and overall system efficiency have now reached a stage where they collectively set a new standard and deliver a host of 'world's firsts,'"

So to reiterate, If Lucid Motors can hit this milestone, it will absolutely put Tesla on its heels. But in the war of range, the only winners are us...the drivers!
